Twin Spine Cactus (Whitey)
The Twin-spined Cactus, scientifically known as Mammillaria geminispina, is a cactus species that is highly sought after by cactus enthusiasts. This cactus is indigenous to Mexico and is renowned for its unique appearance, which is characterized by two spines on each areole, a feature that is not common in most cacti. The Twin-spined Cactus is also known by other names such as the “Double-spined Cactus” or “Gemini Cactus”.
The Twin-spined Cactus is a plant that is easy to care for and maintain, making it a popular choice for cactus collectors. Its striking appearance is a testament to its beauty, and it is a great addition to any cactus collection.
The best kind of sunlight for Twin-spined Cactus plants is bright, indirect light. This means that the plant should not be placed in direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves and cause damage. Instead, the plant should be placed in a location where it can receive bright, filtered light, such as near a window with a sheer curtain or in a room with plenty of natural light.
Ideally, Twin-spined Cactus plants should receive around 6-8 hours of light per day. This can be achieved by placing the plant in a location that receives morning or afternoon sun, or by using artificial grow lights if natural light is not available.
During the growing season (spring and summer), water the plant once a week. During the dormant season (fall and winter), water the plant once every two to three weeks.
