Hope Peperomia is an epiphytic succulent with thick clusters of leaves attached to vining stems. Hope is a low-maintenance plant, perfect for first-time growers. It will tolerate a bit of neglect without a decline in vigor. Humidity does not have to be high; this plant will adapt to lower light levels.

Best Locations For Growing

Any bright but diffused light in the house is suitable to grow Hope Peperomia. This plant looks beautiful on its own atop a desk or shelf but thrives amongst other plants where the humidity will be higher. No parts of Hope Peperomia are not known to be toxic to children or pets.

Sunlight Requirements

Indirect bright light is preferred. Near a southern-exposure window with light-filtering curtains is ideal. Grow lights can be used during the winter when the light levels may be lower.

Care

Pot Hope Peperomia in potting soil with a lot of perlite and orchid bark mixed in. This gives the soil excellent drainage. Use a container with drainage holes at the bottom and do not let the pot sit in a saucer of water longer than 10-20 minutes. From time to time, a flower stem may develop and unfurl. The flowers are not decorative; this stem can be cut back to encourage more foliage growth on the plant or left to grow. Repot Hope Peperomia when roots begin to appear at the top or bottom of the pot.

Watering

Watering Peperomia should be done on a schedule until you figure out how the humidity levels in your house affect water evaporation in the soil. Once a week, check to see if the top 2-3 inches of soil have dried. This is when watering is needed. Soak the pot and let the excess water drain into the saucer. Discard any sitting water in the saucer after 10-20 minutes.

Feeding

Fertilizing can be done once every 1-2 months. Use a liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to half the recommended strength. Apply the food in place of a watering. Using worm castings as a top-dressing for the container will also provide nutrients to the plant.
